(Doesn't that just warm your heart?)

The great things about teaching are the awesome pay and great benefits. Ha! Nah, really, the kids are great. They all think you are cool, funny and super duper smart. It's just like having your own brethren (I imagine), except at the end of the day, I get to give them back.

But my truly favorite aspect about teaching in Korea is the hilarious crap the kids say on a day to day basis. Here are a few:

KID (To a blond teacher) "Teacher, your hair is made of gold. Your body is made of gold. If you sold your body, you could be rich."

KC: "I'm 30, so you all think I'm an old geezer?"
CLASS IN UNISON: "YES!"

DOOLY (To me): "Teacher Casey, you are old, but your brain isn't old."

DOOLY (to me, again): "Teacher, did you eat octopus today?"
KC: "No. I've eaten it in the past, but not today. Why?"
DOOLY: "Because you smell like octopus."

KC: "So the farmer pulls his son out of a well. The rich man pulls out some money. Do you understand?"
JAEMIN: "Yes, today's lesson is about PULLING OUT!"

And the greatest one so far…

"Teacher Casey was very good today. I'm very happy and wonderful. So I give him the clap."

(She meant applause, but who's going to correct her…)
