Poland has given the world a number of famous mathematicians and chess players. By default, one would assume the country has a lot of smart people, and they’re not wrong in thinking so. The Polish are notorious for being very logical and mathematically gifted. So, how is this in-built ability to find patterns in numbers helpful to them?

Milan Rabszski, the editor-in-chief of the TopKasynoOnline project, shares his knowledge of the evolution of gambling in Poland over the years.

A Legal Matter

In most countries, a licensed casino and a legal casino are likely the same. Rather, there is no distinguishing factor between the two. However, in Poland, there is a clear differentiation between the two. A licensed casino has all the necessary permits to accept players from various nations, but it is not registered locally in all those countries. A legal casino, on the other hand, needs to be locally registered in the country in which it operates.

Poland is adamant that its casinos should be legal and not just licensed. This is due to the government’s monopolized authority over gambling institutions. Legal casinos are taxed and regulated, while licensed casinos http://topkasynoonline.com/licencja-na-kasyna/ can slip away from under their noses. This is dangerous territory for both the user and the government.

Accessibility Brings Expansion

The Polish have always enjoyed gambling in one form or another. Before casinos became mainstream and even to this day, lotteries have always been a major part of Polish culture, be this in the form of bingo, tombola, or simple scratch cards. During the era of brick-and-mortar casinos, Poles had to travel to the only physical gambling establishment, the Totalizator Sportowy operated Total Casino, which was the only choice. The world has seen drastic changes since then due to the introduction of the internet. Development and accessibility have grown tenfold, paving the way for faster change than one could expect.

With the added factor of the coronavirus, which forced people into isolation, many sought mental escape through the internet. It became increasingly easy to access casinos online. Polish gambling enthusiasts have taken advantage of this fact. Not many casinos accept Polish players and allow them to play using Zloty, but that hasn’t hindered their quests, and more and more casinos are starting to take notice of this.

This is great because it means casinos will now create platforms that cater to the Poles.

Forbidden Fruits Taste Better

Isn’t it human nature to crave things we can’t have? Poles have always found a way to gamble. Be it at home, in the backyard on a sunny day, or even in restaurants. This was done illegally, and even if people knew what was going on, it was kept hush-hush from the authorities.

Taking this into account, the rules in Poland for gambling are still very delicate. People might lose their rights due to a small mistake, and the punishment could last a lifetime. However, there are places that treat this offense with harsher penalties.

Countries like Singapore, North Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Brunei, Cambodia, and Japan fall under this list. Some of them forbid gambling due to religious limitations, while some do so for the safety of their citizens. Taking the chance is not worth the risk with them.

Is the Growing Interest Concerning?

The “gambling affair” scandal of 2009 had a major effect on how gambling is regulated today. Several important government and ruling party officials worked with business owners in the gambling industry to change the law. In response to what happened, the Act was made to protect lobbying. So, the Act is very strict and bans different kinds of gambling.

The government says that gambling leads to bad habits and is a questionable business. It’s not against the law because it adds to GDP, but there are prohibitions that make it hard for the industry to grow.

Online gaming is fun for more than one reason. Online gambling is easy and cheap to get into because players can play from anywhere at any time (at home or work). Online gamblers can move faster when they play more than one game at once. Some people like online gambling because they can escape from their daily routine. This appeal spreads across the country, not just in the urban cities.

Statistical Analysis Over the Decade

According to the data released by Totalizator themselves, Katowice had a large number of gamblers, going back as far as 2010. The motives behind the rise in gambling ranged from having to feed their families to dealing with an addiction problem. However, the number of youths getting dragged into gambling is alarming.

Eventually, by 2016, 60% of the population had played online and spent more than EUR 82.5 Million in gross gambling revenue, a 28% increase from 2012. Since 2017, further reforms have been made, allowing 14 operators to secure online licenses in the market. Gambling revenues have skyrocketed since then, with EUR 372.5 million made in 2017 and EUR 431.6 million made in 2018. So, where do you think Poland stands now?

Covid may have hit the players hard as the input into the industry dwindled. However, that did not stop the Polish from enjoying casino games from the licensed operator and building back their economy, one game at a time.
