For whatever reason, Points in Case creator, webmaster, editor, Court Sullivan, decided not only to go to a football game, but also to write about it. This is the equivalent of yours truly going to a computer seminar and busting out a few hundred words about software development. Anyway, after you check out his game summary, you can come back here and catch up on a few Court Sullivan sports moments:
From an e-mail received October 24th: “I heard that the world series is going on or something right now. Is that true?”
After my shocked reply, Court responded, “Honestly, I'm going to go to ESPN.com and find out in a second, but at this moment, I couldn't tell you who the White Sox are playing.”
After he e-mailed me and wrote that he was going to the Falcons/Jets game, and I wrote back that Vinny was pretty good on Monday night and that the Falcons may not cover, Court sent me this gem: “No, the Georgia Dome is always covered. Maybe you're thinking of the Super Dome.”
This Court Sullivan quote, from an October 27 e-mail, however, really ices the proverbial cakewalk. “My internet connection has been more hit or miss than some guy who sucks on the Astros. Speaking of which, I didn't see one second of the world series on TV, nor did I see a single highlight. I guess this year marks the first occasion baseball dropped completely off the map for me. Welcome to America's favorite pastime indeed!” My favorite thing about that quote was that he couldn’t actually name one person on the Astros who sucked (like Bagwell or Lidge in the Post Season) but he was dead sure that someone had to suck because he had just found out that the ‘Stros lost.
Don’t you get the feeling that Court is the kind of guy who, during the last play of a crucial game (like fourth and two with three seconds left and the home team needs twenty yards for the game winning touch down) stands up and says something off-topic like, “I wonder where I could get a good bowl of chili right now”? Yeah, me too.
On a related note, look for a lot of grammatical errors and typos in my column next week.
