Five Internet Favorites

I didn't post yesterday. That's my bad. Seriously. I'm sorry. I had a few too many and then I had a few more and then I got all rapped up in a couple of phone conversations and by the time the St. Louis Cardinals were clumsily climbing to a win, I was barely coordinated enough to turn off the television (in fact, it was still on when I woke up). Anyway, like I said, I'm sorry.

But today I'm making up for it by writing this post at work (I'm on a break?I promise) and then after work, I will go home and set y'all up with some snippets. I am nothing if not apologetic.

Anyway, for this lazy summer day post, I figured I'd let you all know a little bit about the internet writers I visit in a given day. After all, if you read me, and I read other writers, well then it follows that you may like some of the writers that I like. So, without any more of that nasty ado that no one likes to further, I list for you the websites I visit and (in some cases) the writers I simply cannot get through the day without. If you want the link to these fine folks, just scroll down The Nate Way until you find the heading, Your Mom's Links, which is where all of these fine writers can be found (also, this says a lot about your mom, but I'm sure you understand how unavoidable that is).

ESPN.COM
For comedy purposes, I only read two writers on the World Wide Leader's site: Bill Simmons and Jim Caple. In addition to being one of the world's best known internet writers, Simmons is also the only internet writer who has ever pissed me off so much that I wrote him an angry email. That's saying something, folks. I'm not sure what. But it's something.

DEADSPIN.COM
This sports blog has two of the things that I truly love about any and all sports blogs: hilarity and constant updating. Also, it doesn't hurt that the founder of this blog is a Cardinals' fan.

WITHLEATHER.COM
Basically, this is Deadspin with an edge. And more links to hot, naked women. That's important.

VENICESURFREPORT.COM
This blog beautifully details the intermingling of three of my favorite things in life: freedom, the beach and homeless people. Gotta love it. You hear that? You GOT TA. No choice. You may have thought this was a free country, but that's what you get for thinking. Jerk.

FIREJOEMORGAN.COM
A blog dedicated to the idea that sports analysts should actually analyze the game instead of getting paid very well to? well, to sit there and sound like idiots. They're heavy on the sabremetrics (sp?) over at FJM, but at least their geekiness is well placed. The truth is, if you're gonna analyze any given sport, you should probably watch said sport and take notes. Oh, and reading Ken Tremendous froth with rage is the comedic equivalent of watching a dirty cop get anally raped. It's that rewarding.

Anyway, most of you probably already read these fine websites, but I figured I'd suggest some other reading for you, you know, in case I get kidnapped by a bottle of Seagram's again.

Snippets later today.

I promise.

Just saw a replay of last night's game, and from my Mets' perspective, Shoenweis (or however you spell it) it complete and utter shit. But you guys still beat us, so congrats and all that other shit.

Another blog you might enjoy is Kissing Suzy Kolber (http://kissmesuzy.blogspot.com/). I visit it daily and it is funny as hell.

I enjoy Bill Simmons as well - I've found that either you two have sort of similar writing styles or you take a few of your ques from him.

Bill,

Yeah, I basically rip off Simmons with every running diary I do. I do acknowledge him when I do though. Which is fair.
