AV Club: With that all said, do you still enjoy it [making South Park]?

Trey Parker: No. But I've never enjoyed it. That's what's so funny. People always think that making the show is so much fun. Especially people that don't know what it's like to write, and stuff like that. It's always been totally stressful, totally just wanting to kill yourself every day because you're under so much stress, and feel like there's no way you can pull it off, and all of that stuff. And then when it's over, when the season's done and you're proud of what you did, then you totally enjoy it. And when you're out on the golf course thinking, “Wow, that was a good season,” then you really enjoy it. But coming here to work in the morning, I fucking hate it, and I always have. [Laugh.] Any job is a job. If you have to be doing something, then you're probably not enjoying it.

A good life lesson perhaps… but it's all relative… you ask a guy cleaning shit for a living vs. Trey Parker, and it would be difficult to sit back and be like “Yep…those two guys both hate their job.”

I dunno dude. I clean my cat's shit every other day and it's pretty easy. The grossness wears off after a while. Cleaning shit isn't a hard job as long as you can breathe thru your mouth. There can't be that many stopped up toilets on a daily basis. And even so, usually you can just plunge and flush, it's not hands-on. Plus, there's really no stress to clean a toilet well. The next person to take a shit probably won't give a shit.

Now, if we're talking personal dignity, yeah, cleaning shit for a living probably doesn't help with that.

Then again, if you're cleaning shit for a living, you probably don't know what dignity means. It's just a vague feeling you have that other people should take care of their own shit.

Perhaps you took the “cleaning shit” statement a little to literally… but now that we are in a world of shit… let me take you through my thoughts:

Picture a big room. On one end there is a HUGE pile of shit. On the other end is a computer with internet.

Guy #1 is asked to take the pile of shit and move it to another corner (non-computer).
Guy #2 is asked to use the computer and internet to create a web app.

Both are paid the same amount.

Which one do you want to be?

Alex Trebek: Court, we'll start with you. You wrote, “What is unemployed?” Oh, I'm sorry, that is incorrect. And… it's going to cost you. To the tune of… “A pile of Trebek's shit” ??

Court: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! EAT SHIT, TREBEK!!

Alex Trebek: That's… real cute. You obviously haven't moved shit around for a living. That correct answer was, “Who is Guy #2?” Guy #2… but you, wouldn't know that.
