I am a NY Metro Area-based author and journalist. My books include The Choices We Made: 25 Women and Men Speak Out About Abortion (a classic oral history, with a foreword by Gloria Steinem, Random House/4 Walls 8 Windows) and Good Catholic Girls: How Women Are Leading the Fight to Change the Church (Harper Collins). Among the recent collections in which my work has appeared are 50 Years of Ms.: The Best of the Pathfinding Magazine That Ignited a Revolution (Knopf, 2023), and Fast Fallen Women, the third book in writer, editor and “feminist humor maven” Gina Barreca’s Fast Women series (Woodhall Press, 2023). I co-authored, with my husband, multiple issues of an absurdist online newsletter entitled Our Domicile (definitely not) Daily, with the goal of “providing all the excitement of pandemic life in one easy read." Most recently, on the humor side, my essay, "WANTED! Special US Postal Inspector for 19th Century Abortion Job! Apply NOW!" appeared on the Little Old Lady Comedy site. My feature articles, investigative reports, essays, and profiles have appeared in many venues, including Ms. (former contributing editor), the NY Daily News, the Chicago Tribune, The Nation, Salon, Newsday, Women’s Media Center and the Huffington Post.
