Creeping along the ease of another hidden urban horizon,
I noticed
A notice
Of eviction?wasn't for me
(ain't got no home).
But I pulled it off the wood-splintered door
And read it anyway.

Note: This is your final notice. All persons and personal property must be removed by January 1st.

Whatever motivates sedation to motion,
Moved me to hit
And kick
The door open;

Inside I found
(Amongst the mass of debris
Growing from the ground)
A little picture
Of a little girl
Sitting at a city bus stop,
Alone in the big wide world.

She wore a smile and a dress
And her sharp, brown eyes asked in bold words,
“WHY ARE WE ALIVE?”

With no answer building,
I got out of the building
And went to a city bus stop
Where I stopped and sat,
Wondering why
We put up with all this
Us,
When none of us would do just fine.

“Well,” said the little girl's eyes
“When you're through with the planet,
Feel free to hand it
Over to someone who cares?”

A bus snapped a puddle
Into flying water
And I watched the pedestrians soak,
And the little girl
With her nowhere life
Smiled on my soul
And said without strife,

“There is nothing more,
And never will be.
Energy is constant,
And so you are free.”
