Credit Card Roulette
Posted May 29th, 2005 by Court Sullivan
This past Tuesday I was introduced to a lovely little game called Credit Card Roulette.
It goes like this:
After finishing dinner at a restaurant with a group of friends, everyone pulls out their credit card and puts it in the little check folder. Only instead of splitting the check, you tell the waiter to pick one card at random and charge the entire bill to it.
Half excitement, half nerves, half regret, half of a larger whole.
Out of 7 of us on a $175 bill, only one person didn't play (because it was his birthday). So he took on the role of producer in this game and stepped up the excitement by handing back credit cards one at a time, until only the person who's card got charged was left standing/crying. The restaurant was really excited too because, according to Nielson, we boosted their ratings by 15 points, and they swept the Tuesday night 18-24 demographic.
Short story even shorter, I didn't lose. (It's not really a "winning" type of game.)

I thought my browser was busted by some funky AJAX...didn't realize it was a two click comment process....
...anyways, ever played Durac (Dirac, Durak...I don't know how to spell it). It's the most popular card game in Russia (so I hear). The idea is to not lose. Like old maid. Which is interesting, because in the game you want to not "end up with the old maid", aka marry her. But the Old One herself doesn't even want to end up AS the old maid. It's not actually sexist at all.
Anyways...I can't wait for partydurac.com.....(and corresponding .net)
Please answer my question.
I was out to lunch with 4 guys today. we played credit card Roulette and the guy who lost had his card rejected. He then told us he knew the card would be rejected.
What should be his punishment?
thanks
He should certainly still be held accountable for the entire bill, even if he has to walk to the nearest ATM, or wash dishes for the rest of the night while you and the rest of your friends go back to work or continue on to the strip club or whatever.
Or just defriend him completely for being the biggest pussy you've ever heard of.
