Too Core for Bob
Posted August 17th, 2007 by Nathan DeGraaf
Hi, my name is Bob and I hate Ron Paul.
You see, Ron Paul is against federal income tax and I'm pretty sure that I need to be taxed as much as possible wherever I go. I hate the idea of having as much of my hard earned money as possible. Oh, and without income tax, how would we pay for those great government ideas like FEMA, The Department of Education and the IRS?
I mean, really guys. Where would we be without FEMA? They single-handedly saved us from Hurricane Katrina. Plus, look what the Department of Education has done for us. We're the richest country in the world and our public education system is only slightly better than Uganda's. I mean, imagine how much worse we would be without the Department of Education's help. Plus, no IRS? That's just crazy. Without the IRS, who's gonna make sure that all those rich bigwigs keep paying their taxes. I mean, we all know that the IRS only goes after the rich.
Oh, and check out this craziness. That little Ron Paul kook, he actually wants to end US military involvement across the globe. I mean, imagine a world without the US policing everybody. There would be no leadership. The world has to know who's in charge around here. It's not like we could just all live in peace without forcing our nation's interests on the rest of the world. America is the best, after all.
Oh, and you won't believe this one. Ron Paul, that kooky little Elvin-looking crackpot, actually thinks that US involvement in the Middle East might have helped motivate terrorists to attack us. I mean, do you believe that? Like we ever did anything to them! Paul is a whack job.
Now, it's true that he keeps getting more and more support, but Paul's only getting that because the internet allows all the loonies across the country to organize quickly. No one besides a select few crazies really want a world where the government protects their freedoms and stays out of their affairs. Government is here for one reason and one reason only: to control every aspect of our daily lives on behalf of the elite so that we can all be protected from terrorism. Tyranny is way cooler than terrorism. Only an idiot would think otherwise.
And that's why I hate Ron Paul.
Sincerely,
Bob DeMoron.

i asked a kid i know, who is republican, about ron paul and he went on like a fifteen minute rant on how he is soft on terrorism and that paul said we asked for 9/11. basically, it was one of the greatest rants i have ever heard and i somehow managed not to laugh at the kid until he had gone away. i love ron paul.
Warning: long, politically involved message ensues. For those reading for pure entertainment value: shit fuck cunt. Hilarious.
Hi Nate,
I have read all of your posts concerning Ron Paul, however, it is only now that I feel compelled to post my opinion.
I am quite intrigued about this candidate's policies.
First of all, let me state that I am not a citizen of your good country. I am from Australia, and, as such, am riding a kangaroo as I type this.
Australians, like the rest of the countries in the world that receive television, are faced with a veritable barrage of information about the US presidential elections on a daily basis.
Feel free to correct me of I am wrong (which I am bound to be at some point), but I would like to donate two cents to this debate.
On the whole, I agree with the majority of his coreness' policies as opposed to the alternative. Like most people residing outside of your borders, I am quite surprised that it is a unusual for a senator to hold the 'radical' idea that US foreign policy is the reason that your country is held in low regard in the majority of the world's countries. Also, I am quite glad that my country does not have the equivalent of your patriot act.
I do not know what FEMA is, and I am too lazy to look it up (there's the wrong part I was talking about).
However, I would like to refute some of Ron's other ideas. I do not know the rate of income tax in the US, but I, as most other citizens of free countries in the world know that it is necessary for a country's prosperity.
Taxes are usually spent on things that benefit a country (ie. not a war that tears a country apart and costs another in excess of $1 trillion)
For instance, it would be wise for a country to spend money on providing adequate, free education to its citizens (which you assure me is not the case currently). Also, basic infrastructure, such as roads, water, power and telecommunications are of great benefit to a country (my sister-in-law is from Chicago and assures me that this basic infrastructure is being ignored (particularly roads)).
To sum up, Ron Paul being elected would benefit the US immensely, however, he would do well to moderate his policies or your fair country would travel further down the veritable 'gurgler'.
Anyway, I hope this raises issues that I'm sure everyone else was too lazy to type out.
Sincerely,
Matt
Matt, federal income tax doesn't really pay for the things you're talking about. It only subsidizes education, roads etc. while requiring conformation to nationalist limitations (speed limits, language requirements in schools, etc.)
Federal income tax yields almost no benefits to Americans.
You know, other then helping us fight terrorism and stuff.
Umm what the fuck. Defense contracts make up about 30% of our budget. Without taxes there would be no Department of Education I know the public school system isn' the best but scrapping the whole damn thing isn't a good idea no matter how "core" it sounds. I swear on everything holy that if we switch to a totally privatized system of education the "elite" would be the only ones with education and the "second class" citizens i.e. (minorities, poor whites, immigrants) would be left without. Then you will know the true meaning of tyranny. In a world where only those privileged enough to afford an education will have access to it. Reform is the answer not getting rid of Public education which depends on taxes
Chad: 'the "elite" would be the only ones with education'
isn't that the American way?
Jokes aside, anon, while income tax may only partially pay for education and roads etc, the money has to come from somewhere, which is why there are many other taxes we pay, sometimes without knowing we are doing so.
Income tax may not pay for everything, but the money has to come from somewhere. Where do governments get their money? Tax.
By the way, if you don't want to conform to speed limits, I'm sure you could just pay to build your own network of roads across the country, and drive however you want.
Anyway, my main point is that by ending foreign intervention, the US will not only improve its status, but will also save money.
I am merely suggesting that the money from taxes be spent internally, as opposed to on a useless war that should not have happened in the first place. (by the way, I do not have any opinion whatsoever on the Iraq war) As I'm sure his coreness would agree.
Awaiting your reply,
Matt
Take all the income taxes not used for defense, give the people the tax breaks, and let the communities decide how to use their newfound earnings. If they want an education tax, be it thru city or state, they will get it. And because it's on a more micro economical level, it will yield better results. Most of the income tax that go to education go to comitees that do nothing.
I agree with Nate, control needs to be given back to the people.
I am of the opinion that if the elite ruling class in this country were against public education, it would be gone. It serves a purpose for them. And they know that.
I am also of the opinion that the federal government should be designed to protect us from warfaring enemies and protect our liberties. Not control our money. The government doesn't NEED to build anything. It is not a company. At least it shouldn't be.
Side note: I don't know much about politics and I used to not care about it. But thanks to the total idiocy of the current administration, I am starting to care. And hopefully others feel the same as me. Because this country is losing everything that made it unique and awesome and gaining everything that made Hitler suck.
