I couldn't agree more, my experience with Dobie was even worse. The condition of the room was well, let's just go with ghetto, nothing like the model they show you on a tour. If you are used to at least middle class accommodations this is not the place for you. Visible grime and dirt in the ventilation vents, a/c was uncontrollable, disgusting bathroom, mold, mildew, floor tile that was so old and cracked that years of dirt and no telling what else was visible. Carpet so filthy that when you went barefoot your feet turned black. The furniture they provide is I'm pretty sure the only furniture they have ever had in the property since they opened in the late 1970's. If you have any inclination towards allergies you will be seriously ill. The manager Todd Engstrom is one of the most incompetent jerks on the planet. Why he has any authority over anything in life is mind blowing. Management in general is sort of non-existent they have no control over the residents. Oh yeah if bed bugs in your mattress aren't an issue with you feel free to move in and enjoy! Homeless and obviously mentally disturbed people wonder in and out of the lobby and cafeteria area. So security is non-existent. The food is substandard, be sure and check their status with the austin health department just so you know I'm not making this up. If you want out of your lease contact the University of Texas Housing people and they will assist! YEA for UT! There are wonderful off campus facilities that are better priced and provide a healthy living environment.
